THE FIRE AT CHERRY FARM.

With reference to the fire at Cherry Farm, of which a brief notice has already appeared in our columns, we are enabled to publish the following official report : —

Police Department, Waikouaiti Station, _, 21st May, 1862. Bergeant Cobden reports, for the information of the Commissioner of Police, that at i a.ro , this day, a large shed at Cherry Farm, containing a quantity'of fram, machinery, &c, the property of John Jones, sq., was discovered by one of the lodgers to be on fire. Every assistance was immediately rendered by the workmen on the Farm, also by Muir, the Road Contractor, and the men under hi 3 employment, but without success, the fire having too firm a hold of the building when firet discovered.

Tho loss sustained is supposed will amount to aousands of pounds, but at present cannot be fully seertained.

Immediate steps are being taken by tha Police to trace, if possible, the origin of the fire, but up to the present no reliable information is obtained.
