DOGS WORRYING SHEEP,

A correspondent of the Field, having a dog addicted to killing sheep, he wished to be informed what wouM cure him. He received the following answer :—: —

" In reply to " A. C.'s" question in your last impression, I beg to send him the following cure for his dog worrying sheep :— Shut the dog up in a small hovel together with an old ram three or four years old, and I warrant the sheep to give him such a dressing that he will be cured of worrying shevp for the future. 'A. C had better stand by during the time they are together, if he has any regard for the safety' of his dog ; saying 'Ware wool, wart sheep ! ' at each attack the ram makes on his dog.— C. A."

(^'A.C. ? should adopt the following plan, which will most certainly cure his retriever of his love for live mutton. Borrow any dog that lie nviy know of; of a pugnacious disposition, and clothe him in a sheep-skin as well as he can and then intioduce him to the retriever, who will soon discover that he has ' caught a tartar,' and the citbet wi]l be marvellous. I know a gamekeeper who broke a setter of this had habit in the same war; bavins; tried various other plans without any success.— Poles."

" In reply to 'A. C.,' I bog to suggest the following : — First give the dog a good dose of jalap, or some other physic, so as to make him somewhat uncomfortable in his inside ; then take him of an evening to where the sheep are, and give him a sound thrashing before them. After which, He him (muzzled) to a stout, plucky old ram, and leave them in company all night. L"t Lhe cord be of a tolerable jjood length, bo :is to give the ram free scope with his horns. When once a dog takes to worrying sheep it is a most difficult matter to euro ; and if the remedy I have suggested docs not put a stop to it, the animal must be destroyed. — 1V.8."
