SEPARATION MOVEMENT.

A general meeting of the Committee was held on Tuesday last, James Rattray, Esq , in the chair, at which it was resolved that th« Movement should be entitled the " Middle Island of Netr Zealand Separation League," and it was intimated by tho mover, J. Vogel, Esq.., that on a futiue o ccasion he would surest to the Committee the advisability of adopting the course pursued by mauy successful political agitations — namely, that of enrolling members on a small annual subscription, and by that rueana extending the character of the movement, and enlisting a larger field of sympathy. Draft standing orders for the guidance of the Committee were brought up by the Secretary, (Mr. Sholi) and reserved for consideration, and the meeting stood postponed to the following day. Yesterday the member* again met at the Athenaeum, and the chairman being unavoidably absent, W. 11. Reynolds, Esq., took the chair. T. B. Gillies, Esq., moved the notice given by { him on a previons occasion, relative to the appointment of a working committee of six ; aud after some discussion by Messrs. Casper, Tickle, De Carle, and the mover, a motion to the effect that the carrying out of the object of the Committee should be entrusted to a select council of six besides the chairman (James Rattray, Esq.,) wa3 put and passed. It was then resolved, upon the motion of Mr. Vogel, that the names of members who were likely to undertake the active duties which would devolve upon the Committee, slionld be proposed and seconded, and that those gentlemen should then be eligible for election. The following names were then put to the meeting and agreed upon as those from whom iisr should be chosen, viz : — Messrs. Frederick Walker, R. B. Martin, Julius Vogel, W. H. Reynolds, Thomas Dick, Edward Casper, W. Tickle, C. T. Ick, Frederick Moss, Edward De Carle, E. P. Kenyon, A. M'Landreas, and James Kilgour. Tue Secretary was instructed to forward election paper? co ntuining the above name. 11 ; to the members of the Committee request ing them to indicate for whom they proposed to vote. The Secretary was iiistrneted to call s further meeting on the result being known.
