HURRAH FOR THE FLAX: Hurrah for the Flax, the evergreen Flax; With its fibres tough and strong, That forms the ropes of the ships that float, And urges the seamen's song. Hurrah for the Flax, the evergreen Flax, That hinds thereat thatch'd cpf, £ . ' , That makes the mat, that secures the stack From the rain and, tempest J X Hurrah for the. Flax, the evergreen Flax, With its soft and honey'd spear ; . • I How the children laugh as its sweets they quafl; , And home in triumph bear. Hur-rah for the FJax, the evergreen Flax* As it stands in bright array, . Like an arm'd host, each at his post, . , Impatient for the fray. Hurrah for the Flax," the evergreen Flax, When the wintry storms prevail, When the ox may look for a shelter'd nook From the bitter breathing gale.
