THE SOLACE
Sad is true friendship's last adieu, How sad when fond friends part, — What can we say that shall allay The aching of the heart ? There's hut one thought can still our grief, One thought has comfort given, * Tho' yo shall parted be on earth Ye both shall meet in heaven.? When flow'rets fade that gem'd the glade' We weep o'er their decay, But smile to think the coming year Will find them just aa gay.- , So friends that parted are on earth Weep o'er the present pain, But hope points upwards to tho skies ' There ye shall meet again.' The sun's not lost that evening hides His glories from thy sight, Then wait thou tho appointed time, Morn cotneth after night. • Should every hope to meet on earth . From thy sad heart be driven, ' The closer cling to -the bright hope That ye shall meet, in heaven.
