"IVTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, iri accordance _Ll with clause 39 of the " Roads Ordinance, 1856," that the Representatives from the Tokomairiro District Road Board have given notice of their intention to propose, at a future meeting- of the General Board, that certain R\)ad Lines in said district be shut up, and exchanged for other Rights of Way, as proposed by the following Resolutions of the Tokomairir'o District Road Board :— January 16, 1861. — " Resolved, that a Eoad be laid off as a branch road, from the iriain road at the west bridge over the Tokomairiro river, through sections 194, 195, 196, and through part of 197, at a point 15 chains or thereabout from the river bank, from thence in a straight line or nearly so through sections 198, 199, 200, 201, 202. 203, and 204, Block XXV., past Mr. James Smith's station to the bridge over the Washpool creek ; thence through portions of Blocks XLVIIL, XLIX., L., LIV., LV., along the line now partially made and used as a dray track as tar as the outside of the survey towards Mount Stuart; at Roxburg Station. " That the road line extending from section 197 through 198 to 204 inclusive, and lying between Blocks XXV. and XXVI. be closed and given to the proprietors of the said sections : and also that such parts of the River Side Road through the above-named sections, and thrtfligh 194, 195, 196, and 197, as will not be required for the road line above proposed to be opened, shall be closed, and conveyed to the proprietors of the said sections as compensation in full for the new line above described. " That the River side Road through Sections in Blocks XLVIII., XLIX., L., LIV., and LV., where any such road lias been reserved, and where the same viil not be required for the above proposed new line of road, be closed, and conveyed to the proprietors of the said sections, as compensation in full for the new line of road before described. General Board of Road trustees. ■VTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that in ■^ pursuance of the " Roads Ordinance, 1856," a MEETING of the PERSONS liable to be Rated for Hoada within the recently proclaimed Road District of EAST TOKOMAIRIRO will be held at the School-house, within the said District, upon TUESDAY, the 16th day of April 1861, at 2 o'clock. p.m,, for the purpose of Electing Trustees for said Road District. By Section 7 of said Ordinance, it is enacted that "every person of the male sex, and twentyone years of age and upwards, who is rated or liable to be rated for roads, within any part of the Province, in virtue of this or any other Ordinance, shall be qualified to be elected a member of any District Board of Road Trustees." And by Section 9 it is enacted that " the Electors assembled at every such meeting shall, by a majority of their number, appoint a Chairman, and make their elections of not less than three persons, qualified as aforesaid, to form the District Board of Road Trustees ; and the state of the votes shall be ascertained by a show of hands, or in sucli other manner as to tho Chairman shall seem expedient ; and at the meeting of which he is Chairman, he shall be disqualified to be elected a Trustee, and shall have no vote except a casting vote in every case of an equality of votes ; and he shall declare the state of the Votes to the meeting, which declaration sball be final ; an-1 shall forthwith make a true return in writing of the names and designations of the persons elected, such return to be made to the Clerk of the General Board of Trustees ; and, in default of so doing, shall forfeit and pay a penalty not exceeding five pounds." REGISTRATION OF DOGS, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on and after Ist July kistant,- the penal clauses of the Dog Nuisance Ordinance have come into operation within the Province, after that date, the constables appointed by the Superintendent to ask for exhibition of Registration Tickets, and to sue for penalties, afe empowered to commence and pefform the duties imposed wpofl them by the said Ordinance.
