" Orkney" is a beautiful bay horse, S years . old, 16 J hands high, of excellent bone and substance, of good action, and of the purest Clydesdale blood. " Orkney" was got by that far-famed horse " Clyde," who, when a two-year-old, gained the first prize at the following places, viz. : — Paisley, Houston, Johnstone, and Kilbarcban, the principal breeding districts in- Scotland. " He also gained the Highland Society's first 1 prize at Glasgow, as a three-year-old, and also 1 the first prize at Dumbarton, when a four-year-old ; and was allowed to be the best bred [ Clydesdale horse in Scotland. ' " Orkney "is out of " Rose," a famous black Clydesdale mare, got by " Chance." She gained several first prizes as a brood mare at each of the shows at Gargunnock and Stirling, where her stock have never been beat, they having gained twelve first prizes — " Orkney " gaining two of them. " Orkney " will stand at Mr. Duff's, Green Island, three days fortnightly, commencing on Monday, the 29th instant. The season will commence on the Ist day of October, and end the Ist day of March next.
