HAWKE'S BAY.

The Provincial Council was opened on the 22nd November.

His Honor the Superintendent had intimated in his address to the Council his intention of resigning hia office •, but at the request of the Council he had consented to retain it. The salary of the Superintendent had been fixed at £600 per annum, and £200 was voted to him for past services. The salary of the Speaker was fixed at £50, and a similar sum was voted for the expenses of members.
