PORT CHALMERS.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. July 30.— Tho Challenge, from Lyttelton, arrived at 2 p.m. August 2.— The Star, from New River, arrived early. The Pirate, s. s., from Melbourne, anchored at layler's Point at 10 a.m., and came up the Port at noon. The Oberon sailed at 3 p m., and the Ann Jane at 4.30 p.m. August 3 —The Miami sailed at 11.30 a.m., and the Traveller's Bride at noon. The steamer Pirate, Capt. Robertson, from Melbourne, arrived at Port Chalmers on Tuesday hav-' ing had a very favourable run of seven days, with splendid weather. She brings about 40 passengers, of whom 17 are cabin, and a full cargo, having been obligea to refuse both passengers and cargo? She has 200 sheep and 28 horses, which, m consequence of the remarkably fine passage, have been landed in splendid condition. Her last voyage up was rather protracted, occasioned by the very stormy weather she experienced, which split several of her sails carried away p^rt of her bulwarks,, and did other damage. She is expected to sail on Tuesday for Melbourne with a full cargo/ which has been collected for her at Port Chalmers. Up to our going to press we hear no tidings of the "Avonvale.Ji now about 121' days out from Gravesend. We hope she is not to be another Thetis.
