THE FRENCH WAR LOAN.

The Paris Monitenr of May 17th, contains a Report from the Minister of Finance, respecting the subscriptions made towards the new French loan. The subscribed capital is to be 237,000,000 francs. Of tins amount eighty millions have been contributed by 520,000 subscribers, in sums of ten francs each subscription. The Ministerial Report in the Moniteur points to this result as proving the solidity of the French financial system, as well as the wealth, power, and patriotism of the French people.

It is also urged that this prompt and liberal response to the appeal of the Emperor demonstrates the entire confidence of the nation in the strength and wisdom of the sovereign who presides over its destinies.
