HHHE BISHOP OF CHRISTCIIURCII - A gives notice that the first meeting of the synod of the diocese will be held at Christchurch on the 1 lth day of August next. * The Synod will consist of three orders — 1. The Bishop 2. The Licensed Clergy * 3. The Representatives of the Laity, 19 members. ;f Any lay commuunicant of the diocese may M be elected to serve as a syuodsman, or representative of the kity. Every layman of the age of 21 years and upwards who shall sign a declaration in the form following " I do hereby declare that I am a member of the United Church of England and Ireland in New Zealand," will be entitled to vote at the election of synodsmen for the parochial district in which i he is resident.
