Province of Otago \ to ivit: ) WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of His Excellency Thomas Gore Brown, Esquire, Commander of the most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commanderin- Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c, bearing date the second day of November in the year of our Lord 1858, and under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid, hath been directed to me, John Gillies, Esquire, as Resident Magistrate and Returning Officer for the Town of Dunedin, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected from and amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, One Person to serve as Member of the House of Representatives for the Town of Dunedin : Now therefore I, the said John Gillies, Esquire, Returning Ofiicer for the Town of Dunedin, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Town of Dunedia will be holden at the Court-house, Dunedin, on WEDNESDAY, the 12th day of January next, at 12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person to serve as Member of the House of Representatives for the Town of Dunedin in the said Province; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such Polling shall take place on FRIDAY, the 14th day of January next, at such Court-house aforesaid : the Votir.g to commence at any time after 9 o'clock in the morning of the said day, and to clo3e at 4 o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
