TOWN BOARD.

A meeting of this Board was held on Wednesday, 20th instant. Present— Messrs. Chapman, Duncan, Kilgour, Limbert, Langlands, and Smith. Mr. Kilgour in the Chair.

The minutes of former meeting were read and confirmed,

The Clerk read an application from Mr. Gillies on behalf of the Wakari District School Committee for portions of sections 8, 9, and 10, Wakari district^ for the purpose of erecting a school and school building 3 thereon.

Resolved, that the application be not entertained, as the Board do not consider it advisable to subdivide the said sections.

Resolved, that the following sections, forming a part of the Municipal Estate, be advertised for competition, viz. :— Section No. 49, Block XVII., Dunedin; section No. 28, Sawyers 1 Bay district; section No. 9, Wakari district ; sections Nos. 4 and 5, Block XIX., Waihola district; section No. 3, Block XX., Waihola district.

The Clerk reported as to the improvements required on the street line joining the approach to Cargill and London Streets.

It was proposed that the men in the employ of the Board be sent to the approach to London and Cargill Streets, to form a culvert and approaches thereto, under the direction of the Clerk.

~1~ 1 £ r °P OSGcI as an amendment, " That no sum above £10 be voted for the purpose of constructing or repairing any road, &c, until the Clerk has examined and reported upon the whole of the streets approaching Dunedin."

There being no seconder, the amendment waa lost, and the original motion carried.

Resolved, that the Clerk be instructed to procure a record map of the Southern Cemetery. Resolved, that the Clerk be instructed to write to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting that ho would be pleased to introduce a Bill at the ensuing session of the Provincial Council, empowering the Board to borrow money on security of the Municipal The Board then adjourned.
