H. Mansford, I beg to offer myself to you as his successor. From my long connection with the Town of Port Chalmers I am well known to most of you, and therefore feel it unnecessary now to enter into any detailed explanation of my political views, but shall be always ready to do so when called upon, I can assure you, Gentlemen, that I have not undertaken the responsibility of offering myself to represent the important Town of Port Chalmers for any personal consideration, but with the sincere hope and desire that I may be instrumental in promoting the interi ests and progress of the District to which I belong, and the Province at large.
