ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
'. To the Editor of the Otago Witness. Sir — On perusing the published report of the proceedings of the Provincial Senate of political wisdom, I observe with some degree of surprise ) that the item of placed upon the Estimates r> for providing a Public Clock for the capital of the Province, has been erased. This erasure, considering the liberality of the Council in other respects of far less importance, merits the contempt of every man who loves his adopted country;' and who would have the venerable servant of time high and lifted up in the centre of Dunedia. It must be. apparent to every individual of the community the desirableness of such an ornament to pur town, considering the many other public improvements
that are' being carried into effect. Trusting the good people of Dunedin will screw their wills into a practical resolve in this matter. — I am, &c. Sam Slick.
