July 28, the Gazelle, 285 tons, Downie, master, from Wellington. Passengers — Messrs. A. and A. Todd, Mr. Lorimer and family, Charlotte and Mary Ann Brebner, Mr. Allan and family, Messrs. "W* and O. Familton, Mr. ELirkvrood, Mr. and Mrs. Bell ' and 4 children. CLEARED OUT FROM THE CUSTOM-HOUSE. July 20, the Worklmjton, 150 tons, Henry, master, for the Oliiithain Islands. Passengers— Mr. and Mrs. Shatid and 8 childieti. SAILED.* July 2-5, the Zingari, 148 tons, for Port Victoria. Passengers— Messrs. Latter and Waitman. The ship, Duke of Portland, from London, after a fine passage of 97 days from Gravesend, arrived in Auckland on the sth inst. Including the Bishop of N-ew Zealand and Mrs. SehVyn, she brings 23 passengers for Auckland, and 29 for Nc.v Plymouth. The "Bishop's schooner, Southei'i Cro^s, sniled from England a day or two previous to the departure of the Duke of Portland. Thebaique Cresswell, Capt. Barnett, from London, arrived in Auckland on the 25ih ult., after a protracted passage of 144 days from Gravesend. She brings 40 p.i^sengers, several of whom had previously token passage in the ill-fated Polar (Star. Cunningham's patent reefing apparatus has been applied to the main-topsaif of the Cresswell. 'lhe ship New Era, from London, arrived at Welington on the 27th June, after an excellent passage of 98 days from the Downs. She brought 16 cabin and 187 steerage passengers, the greater part of whom were for Wellington, having come out under arrangements made by the Provincial Goxernment. The ship Merchantmen, 1018 tons, was advertised to sail for Auckland direct on the Ist May. She was to convey Colonel Gore Browne, the new Governor of New Zealand, with his family and suite, to the colony. The clipper ship Marco Polo, Captain Clarke, from Liverpool, aimed at Melbourne on the 26th ult., bringing English dates to the sth April. There weic 21 bags of mails for Geelong, and 75 tons for Melbourne and adj-icent colonies, together with a large general cargo.
