TARANAKI.
The Taranalci Herald of the 21st of September gives a report of the opening of the Provincial Council, with the address of the Superintendent. The latter calls for no particular remark, as it is exceedingly brief, and gives very little information on the policy which his Honour intends pursuing. To judge from this document, it seems as if the Council had been called hastily together before the Superintendent had found time to consider fully his own position, and the duties required of him. Mr. J. N". Watt was elected Speaker.
At Mr. A. King's Sale on Saturday, as at his previous sales, cattle realised highly remunerative prices, steers 2 years old bringing £16 10s., and 1 year old £12 2s. 6d., maiden heifers, £6 13s. Cows averaged £12, Ewes and Lambs (the couple) 535.
