FIRE AT OTAKI BEACH

An incipient fire which, but for prompt action, would’have endangered several residences, was started at Otaki Beach by a small boy with a burning grass. Fortunately, two workmen engaged on a nearby building, assisted by the caretaker of the bathing pavilion, were able to get the fire under control after some strenuous moments, otherwise the brigade would have received a call. This should serve to re* mind residents and visitors of the great danger of a fire in the dry undergrowth, and prompt them to take every care to prevent one being started.
