RABBITSKIN SALE
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: The first rabbit skin sale of the 1939 season was held on Thursday, when a medium size catalogue was submitted. The quality of tho skins, as is usual with the opening sale, was not of a very high order, comprising mostly summer; J grades, witha large percentage of stale skins. In "view of the unsettled state of the overseas market buyers were operating with caution, and prices for grades other than fleshly caught skins were on a comparatively low basis. For the winter lots, however, quite satisfactory prices were obtained, incoming making up to 34*d, early winters to 34d and first bucks to 60d. These prices are well, up to those ruling at the June sale I last year and indicato that trapping wil lagain be a very payable proposition. The following is the range of i prices:—Small, to Gd per lb; runners, Hid to 12d; light racks, 1.3 d to lod; prime racks, 13Sd to lod; milky, 9d to lOd; summer does, to lOd; summer bucks, 9d to lOd; dawny autumns, 14$d to IGJd; second early autumns, 14d to 16'kl; first early autumns, ISJd to 195 d; second late autumns, 19d to 21}d; first hue autumns, 28d to 29d; broken, 9Jd to 17d; F.S. and 8.5., lOd to 22d; hares, 7}d to 9Jd'; spring does, to 9}d; spring bucks, to lOJd; black, 7d to IGd; incoming, 22d to 34d; weevilly, 6Jd to HJd; E.W. bucks. 42d to 44d; E.W. does, to 30d; spotted bucks, to 36d; spotted docs, to 20d; second bucks, 50d to 55d; second does, to 27d; first bucks, , 55d to 60d; ferrets, to 12d.
