AHs. A. A. Saveli, who has been in England for some considerable time, is expected to return to Otaki next month.

Air. and A[rs. Frank Askew, at pre sen in England, have travelled ex tensively and may return to Xew Zee. land in the course of a few weeks.

Atr. and Airs. F. B. Anderson, win. were among those who attended tin funeral of the late Air. Pole at Otak yesterday, have returned to Wanganui

Miss Greer, who has been absent from Otaki on account of a bereave-

ment, has returned. Miss Hodge, who has been relieving at the Beauty Salon, has returned to Wellington.

Miss Jean Irving, of Otaki, has left to take up residence at Whangarei. Miss Irving, who is the daughter of Mr. and Airs. J. M. Irving, will carry with her the best wishes of many friends.

According to a private cable received in Wellington this week, Air. W. Higgins, who left for England at the end of last month, has had a veryfavourable report from his medical advisers. Air. Higgins had to undergo a serious operation while in England last year, and his present trip was undertaken in older to have a further report made on his progress. His maiiv friends will wish him a speedy and. complete recovery.

In the Deanna Durbin contests at Patea, Frances Jones (grainl-daughter of Air. and Airs. H. Elderton, Otaki) was adjudged the winner of the fourth group of Deanna Dui'oiu girls "ho appeared before a large audience at the Hawera Opera House. The finalists now include representatives from Xev, Plvmouth, Hawera, Stratford and Patea. The votes cast so far give Aliss Jones a big lead, she having scored 421 votes as against Hawera’s candidate, the next highest, 53. The winner has received congratulations from various parts of the Xorth Island.
