FOOTBALL.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Carterton Football Club the usual discussion took place on “unfinancial” vice-presidents. One member stated that he understood that vice-presidents were elected “for their ten and sixpences.” However the consensus of opinion was to the effect that the appointment was an honour bestowed on past supporters and members who had already “done their bit.” It was made perfectly clear that the “ten and sixpences” would not be despised. Now that Rugby is getting close, it is. time to issue a word of advice to players. Have you got in touch with your club secretary yet? If not, you can assist your .clubs by doing so right away. An early start will help those on the administrative side of the game. By your contacting your club now, the coaches will have an opportunity of finding out who’s who. Hon l forget also to be there on the first training night and for all succeeding training nights. Football matches arc won on the training ground, and a full team is necessary for training purposes. The Otaki Football Ciub acknowledges the following donations wiTU thanks: Mr. C. F. Atmore, £1 Is; Mr. B. H. Rhodes, 10s fid; Mr. L. G. Lowry, 10s 6d; Rev. Father Venning, £l.
