NOTES ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS. Next week comments on the Australian pair will appear, and each following week there will be published notes pn players well known in the tennis world. These notes were compiled hefore the Wimbledon, French, and American chamships—held in the last few months —were played. Frederick John Perry.

Born at Stockport, May 18, 1909; educated at Ealing. Learnt lawn tennis at the Brentham L.T.C., Ealing, playing against a wall. Principal achievements: Defeated Baron de Morpurgo at Wimbledon; represented Groat Britain v. Australia in Davis Cup at Bournemouth, 1930; toured U.S.A. and South America, winning Argentine championship, 1930; represented Great Britain in Davis Cup up to challenge tie (beaten by France), 1931; reached three championship semi-finals at Wimbledon and U.S.A. single championship semi-final, 1931; beat seven of the first ten U.S.A. players, 1931; won three events in Coupe de Noel, Paris, 1931 and 1932, defeating Borota; toured Scandinavia (twice), Germany, and Holland with G. P. Hughes, 1931; represented Great Britain in Davis Cup; beaten by J. Crawford in memorable match in the fifth round of tho championships, Wimbledon, after heating W. Allison (America) the previous round; with G. P. Hughes reachod final of the doubles championship; won mixed doubles in French championship (with Miss Nuthall); also won the Pacific Coast championship and Pacific South-. west championships; toured West indies, winning Bermuda championships, and South Africa with British teams. 1932. (i) Favourite and (ii) flbest scoring stroke: (i) forehand Idrive, (ii)' forehand drive on way to net and taken early. Other recreations: Table tennis, football, cricket, and hockey; has won all table tennis doubles championships in England, including English doubles championship three years in succession; world's single championship, Budapest, 1929, international.

Perry has since these notes were compiled again won the Pacific championship in America, for the second time, and also won the American championship, when he defeated Crawford in the final. Frank Herbert David Wilde.

Born at Wimbledon, March 19, 1911; educated at Mercer's School. Learnt lawn tennis at the Herga L.T.C against a wall. Principal achievements: Junior champion of Great Britain, 1928; had court championship of Ireland, 1930-31; in 1932 represented England against Wales, Germany, Belgium, and in the German championships; beat G. L. Rogers at Wimbledon and in the final of Cumberland tournament. (i) Favourite and (ii) best scoring strokes: (i) half volley, (i) forehand drive. Other recreations: Football, golf, billiards, badminton, cricket, and international player table tennis. Harold George Newcombe Lee.

Born at Teddington, June 15, 1907; educated at King's College School, Wimbledon. Learned lawn tenuis at home, taught by father. Principal achievements: Represented England v. Scotland, 1928, London v. Paris, and England v. Ireland, 1929; won British hard courts singles championship, represented Great Britain in Davis Cup; won Irish singles championship, and toured U.S.A. with British team, 1930; beat G. M. Lott (U.S.A.) at Wimbledon; officially ranked No. 4 in Great Britain; toured West Indies with British official team, being runner-up to F. J. Perry in championship of Bermuda; reached fifth round in French singles championship after beating R. Lacoste; beat J. Borotra in I.C. match in Paris; reached final of men's doubles (with G. P. Hughes) and mixed (with Miss B. Nuthall) in German championship; toured South Africa with British team, 1932. Favoourite stroke: Forehand drive. Other recreation: Badminton.
