Otaki Sports,and Picnic.

Work in connection with the meeting on Boxing Day (December 26th). on the Otaki racecourse is steadily going forward, and interest is well maintained. Further donation* have come to hand. * •.

Mr. J. Flanagan, the well-known trainer of trotter*, has offered to give an exhibition trot with some of bis horses on the. day. Mr. Flanagan wishes, it to be definitely understood that these horses will not be competing for the stake but will trot for exhibition purposes only. The committee are indebted to Mr. Flanagan for thi.» timely thought a* many people \u thi* district have few opportunities of seeing first class trotters in action a'nd it is felt that the exhibition will create much interest. Mr. P. Tahiwi has undertaken to supervise the management of the grounds on Boxing Day which assures for the public a smooth-running and orderly meeting. There has been some talk of a booth being opened on the grounds but this will not be the case. The refreshment rooms will be in the capable hands of the "Regal," of Otaki, and they will be the only firm authorised to sell refreshments in any form. There will be no - licensed booth on the ground. The Otaki Band has promised to at; tend the meeting and the committee are especially thankful for this generous assistance.

Given fine weather the public and visitors to Otaki are given an opportunity of having a very enjoyable day and of helping to assist a very worthy cause as we would remind the public that the profits of the meeting will br. passed to the secretary of the Otaki Belief Committee. We would draw attention to the corrcetions in the. programme. The married men's prizes should read, Ist ss, 2nd 2s 6d, 3rd Is; and the pony -walk. and gallop is for ponies twelve" hand* and under.
