Free Ambulance Service.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE, The monthly meeting of the committee of the Free Ambulance Service •was held last evening at the free ambulance station, Palmerston ' North, when the chairman- (Major Bosworth) presided. Accounts totalling £47 5s were passed for payment. The Superintendent and Hon. Secretary (Mr. Francis H. Holz) reported as follows: "The woTk of the service is now increasing, so rapidly that it is fast becoming impossible to cope with the work with only one ambulance. During the past two months 150 cases have been attended as compared to only 176 cases for the whole of the first six months. This clearly indicates the increasing demands upon the service, which has now been in active operation for the past eight months and has attended altogether 326 cases (130 accidents and 196 medical transports) the mileage travelled in connection therewith being 6121. The calls wenreceived as follows:—City 237, Feeding 11, Levin 9, Lcyin (races) 2, Otak) 1 Foxton S, Foxton (motor sports) 7. Shannon 5, Mangahao 1, Rongotea 4, Halcombe 2, Cheltenham 1, Ashhurst 1 Awahuri 2," Moutoa 1, Bunnythorpe 3! Longburn 4, Tokomaru -1. Himitangi 1 Manakau 1, Taikorca 1, Tangimoann 3, Rangiotu 1. - Ballancc 1, Pahiatuo Track 1, Xcwbury 2, Milson 3, Kauwhata 2, Fitzherbert 1. and t eases have been removed to Poiirua, 1 case from Otaki to Waipulvurau, and 1 ease from Levin to Wellington.
During November 87 eases were attended (">1 accidents, and 36 medical transports) the mileage travelled being 1445. The calls were as follows: City 65, Feilding 1, Levin 1, Levin (races) 2, Shannon 2, Manguhao 1, Tokomaru 1, HimitangL 1, Tangimoana 1, Longburn 4, Bunnythorpe 1. Kauvhata 2, Milson 3, and 1 case was-re-moved to Porirua and 1 from Levin to Wellington. - The honorarv staff provided by the Balmerston North Division of St. .Tolm Ambulance Brigade has now rendered 2197 hours of voluntary duty, ot which 2A?, hours -were done 'during November.
