funds. There was a great deal of discussion re a bar for the Plunket nurse. Our committee and the mother's nurse visits all think, a ear most necessary. A resolution -was passed: That' "Otaki W asked to call a meeting, at wMch the necessity and means of getting nurse a car be-discussed and the 'com; miittces of all sub-branches be asked to attend. Meeting held on February '27th: Mrs. Monk in the chair. Rcsresentatives at meeting held in Otaki 10 nurse's car, were Mrs. and Miss Jones,. Mcsdainos Hig.-rins, Monk, .Wilson, Graham.' The Whole thing was thoroughly gone into, but nothing definite was settled, the' matter being left to the advisory board. They have met, but things are still not settled. Mr.. Monk was ejected to represent Waikanae at the Advisory Board meeting', Mr. Monk to suggest that the £IOO left by Mrs. Mtißeath, might be used for purchaso of car, unless otherwise willed. Also we are willing to help towards the cost of the car up to £3O and the mainftenanceiJ —N. WILSON, Hon Secretary; L. GRAHAM, Hon. Treasurer. Porirua. Porirua Sub-Branch of Otaki Plunket Branch, Fifth annual report:— • In presenting this report I may say, the beginning of this year did not look too successful. Three annual meetings were called and only three members attended. A general meeting was called on October 24th, 1929, when there was a good attendance and a new committee formed. Mrs. R. N. Bothamley, President; Mrs. R. W. Bo.thamley treasurer; Mrs. Hassall, secretary; committee, Mosdames Windley, Evans, Collcy, Hughes, Eastwoodland Heron (Titahi Bay), Headland and Mexted (Tawa Flat); Advisory Board, Dr. Williams, Messrs R. W. Bothamley, Windley, Colley, Hughes, P. Hassail, J. Hassall. Ail meetings; have been well attended and a keen interest shown. Some time ago Dr. Grey, Director-General of Mental Hospitals, with the Minister's- of Health's sanction, offered us- a piece of ground in a most convenient position for .plunket rooms. Plans wore drawn up and forwarded to Otaki, to be sent down to Central Council for approval. Titahi Bay held a very successful shop day in aid of building fund. Pori.i'ua also held a shop day and the Maori troupe from-Wellington gave a most successful concert in aid of building fund. Tawa Plat have promised to give a picture. Mrs. Hassall attended a meeting at Otaki re car for nurse. On. account of Porirua raising funds for plunket rooms they are quite unable to gftve [any .money towards capital cost of car. The only help we could give would be £1 per month what wo pay the taxi-driver at present for taking nurse from Tawa Plat and Titahi Bay. At a meeting held in February it was decided to ask for a transfer from Otaki to Wellington, not because v.e don't appreciate Nurse Sell's work. Both committee and mothers have the highest regard for nurse and her work. We thought as the district was growing it would be more convenient for a nurse from Wellington to attend Porirua. The committee wish to thank Nurse Sell for her reports which show the work is increasing, also Otaki for advice given, Mr.'it. W. Bothamley, Dr. Williams, and all friends who have helped to make the year a success. —M. HASSALL, 'Hon. Secretary, Porirua SubBranch of Otaki Plunket Branch. Otaki.

\~ Annual "report for year ending !jj March 31st, 1930: —In presenting the '; fifth annual report we have to record ;'J that the year on the whole has been a ■- very quiet one with few outstanding incidents. In June a letter was received from Plimmcrton Sub-Branch I? stating that they were unable to curry t on. It was suggested that they revert . to a sub-committee. This advice Was .', acted upon, a new committee was formed r.nd the work is goiug steadily _ ahead. *. :i October 18th a general j| meeting was held to formerly pass a t resolution to consent to an application a for incorporation of the branch with the rules of Hie Society. The annuaj effort took the place of a children's •| concert .given on November 15th. The * thanks of the committee are due .to , Misses Williams, Lezard and Mills, who '"'. organised and trained the children. 1! The sum of £l2 2s lOd was added to '1 the funds. Mrs. Hassall,' hon. secretary 1 porirua Sub-Branch, attended a mcet- ■? ing on November 15th and put before the committee a proposal to erect * Plunket Rooms at Porirua. A suitable site had been granted by the Mental Hospital authorities and it was pro- „ posed to collect sufficient funds for •J the cost of materials, the work to be * done by free labour. The plans of the {• proposed building have been submitted " to Central Council but so far pcrmis- _ sion has not been granted to proceed 2 with the work. At the request of the ; ' Waikanae Sub-Branch a special meet- 1 ing was held on February 21st to consider providing a car for the use of our nurse. After full discussion it* w&s 7 decided- to ask each sub-branch and s sub-committee to appoint/ a representaf five to confer with the Advisory 4 Board. The representatives duly, met , and it was decided to hold over the , decision until after the annual general 5 meeting. A letter was received from 1 Porirua requesting . that their Sub--1 Branch be joined up with the Wcllingj, ton district as being much clager and . more conveniently worked from that t end. .A request was forwarded to Central Council asking that the whole j district south of Paekakariki be taken j oyer by Wellington, but so far no decision has been arrived at. iNurse Sell continues to do good work in the district. The work, is steadily increasing : and her efforts arc: greatly appreciated I by mothers and the committee. .In conclusion we wish to thank Messrs Noble ' and Capewell for the cartage, the Sun- " beam Bus Co. and Mr. Baker, for free \ bus rides, the "Otaki Mail," Mr. ' Morse, hon. treasurer; Mr. Hawk, hon. ' auditor; Mr. Atmore, hon. solicitor; * the Advisor}' Board and all who have -in a'nywav assisted iii the work of the * Society—-«• G. ATMORE; President; - K.' M.
