Inspectors Strachan and Burns paid an unexpected visit to the Otaki State ■School yesterday. Sister Blackic. who has been on furlough, has resumed duties at the Otaki hospital.
Mr. O. Lane, of the Otaki P.O. staff, left yesterday .on transfer to Balclutha. Mr. Foster, "of Dannevirke, has commenced duties at the local office. Mrs. and Miss AVilmot leave for Dunedin on Wednesday. The latter, who is to undergo a course of training for nursing, will take up residence in the South. She carries .with her the best wishes of a large circle of friends.
Mr. P. H. Rhodes, who has been up-, pointed master at the Culverden school, leaves fur the South this afternoon. Buriug Mr. Rhodes' stay in Otaki he has made many friends, all of whom will wish him bou voyage. Air and Mrs V. Inr-rnui are making good progress towards recovery in the Palmerston Hospital. Their utile son. however, was found to require further treatment and he was taken to the hospital yesterday, so that the whole family are inmates of the institution. Miss Joyce Ingram continues to make slow progress.—Chronicle. Before leaving the Oliau district, Miss Majory McLeavey, whose marriage takes /place shortly, was accorded a. gift evening by the Oh.-iu ladies. A very enjoyable evening was spent with musical items, games and dancing. Aliss McLeavey received some beautiful presents both useful and ornamental. Air J. Crowe, a very old friend of the faiuilv, spoke verv highly of the guest of the evening and her father (Ah- A. McLeavey) suitably responded. She was accorded musical honours, everyone joining in "For She's a Jollv Good Fellow." '.lie singing of "Auld Lang Sync," bringing a. -leasuut evening to a close.
