FIVE CANDIDATES IN THE FIELD. Until s few days ago it appeared that the election of representative to the Otaki scat r/as to be restricted to two candidates —Mr \V. H. Field (sit- , ting member) and Mr J. McKenzie (Labour representative). However, no less than three others have now signified their intention of contesting the ' seat —-Messrs Evelyn Macdonald, C. I. Harkness. and A.’J. It- Ishertvood —and there is every prospect of the contest being a lively one. Mr Evelyn Macdonald, a very well- I known farmer residing at Te Horo, else- j - where advertises his candidature. He announces his policy as *'• Progressive, Liberal and Labour —a national policy with the- motto: ‘Principles before Party.’ ” Mr Macdonald has been : prominent in Farmers ’ Union matters, and also in matters connected with the Te Horo Co-op. Dairy Company and the Prohibition movement. He will doubtless get considerable support from the farmer? ana others. Mr■ Macdonald left this morning for P&hiatua on business. On his: ret tarn he will embark oa his campaign, and will address public meetings at the principal centres of.the electorate. Mr C. I.
