CLEARING SALE AT EASTERN BUSH.
Messrs J. R. Mills and Son. and the . National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., at their successful clearingsale at Eastern Bush on Wednesday, sold the following- on behalf of the estate of the late Mr Davis: — Sheep: — 407 ewes and 1 lambs (all counted) 4/3, 526 do. 4/-,- 125 do. 5/-, counted) 4/3, 526 do. 4/-, 12* . 79 ew e hoggets 8/6, 79 wether hog--gets 4A, and 7 wethers 6/6. Horses:— l gelding £19, 1 do. £20; 1 do. £16, 1 do £15, 1 do £12, 1 do. £15 s and 1 do. £10 10s. • Cows:— -1 at £6 15s arid lat £5. Implements, etc. were sold at market values. ~ would not be specially penalised. Mr Jbnee also agreed ~with the need for allowing lorry transport of lambs. Mr A. P. Scott asked that, seeing the Board spent £17,000 in advertising* in.»Britain, why did they not provide information for the < farmers here? Mr Jones said the newspapers throughout N.Z. treated the Board fairly and regularly published the reports. Mr Scott said all that appeared in the Southland papers about Ottawa would not cover a . penny stamp. Mr Jonejß was surprised and said he issued a threecolumn report on his rettucn. Members agreed it appeared. Mr "Scott said reports of the Board meetings and what was being- done should be published. Asked by ,Mr Evans his views on higher exchange, Mr Jones said he was thoroughly i n favour of it as being- one of the best means of ,. assisting the primary producer available to-day, although it was' a system of inflation. Mr Jno. Evans moved, Mr E. K. Sim seconded the following resolution to be forwarded to the Prime Minister, Hon. J. G. Coates and Hon. A. Hamilton: "That this meeting of over 100 farmers at Otautati of primary producers respectfully urgea upon the Government the necessity oi * lifting- the rate of exchange between ' N.Z. and London as a means of relieving the economic position of the !
