The monthly meeting- of the «^Vomen's Division of the FarmersUnion, Otautau Branch, was held on Friday, 14th October, when the president (Mrs . McLeod) presided over 22 members and welcomed the visitors, Mrs Smith (Winton) and Mrs Sutherland, /

A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs F. Chilton and Mr Fisher and family.

It was decided to help the blind by selling- some of their work, secretary to order several small articles.

Mrs Evans (ex-president) took the opportunity of thanking the members of the branch for the handbag they had given her, saying she appreciated the gift very much.

The president won the competition " Something new from something old", with a small toy's overcoat. The Roll-call, "My funniest experience", caused a great deal of amusement.

It was decided that the roll-call for next meeting- be "My greatest economy." At a (suitably interval, Mrs Smith, President Winton Branch, apologised for the absence of Mrs Liddell and Mrs Smart, who were to have been present also. Mrs Smith gave a very interesting address on Women's Division aims and objects and also lectured on laminated wool and its uses, showing members a sample and a child's quilt made from it.

Mrs Cupples thanked Mrs Smith on behalf of the branch for her very m

teresting- address and lecture. The hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames McLeod, F. J. Collie, H. D. Collie and G. Low. Mrs J. Evans, moved a hearty vote of thanks

to the president for the capable way m which she had conducted the meeting. Mrs F. J. Collie endorsed these remarks.
