NIGHTCAPS NOTES.
_*_ FAREWELL SOCIAL. The Nightcaps Town Hall \vapacked on Thursday night when a large assembly of citizens gathered to farewell Mr and Mrs G. Taylor and family, who, following the disastrous fire which destroyed their shop and residence, have decided to move from the district. Prior to ihe commencement of the Social, the Nightcaps Silver Band gave an excellent programme outside the Hall. Dancing was enjoyed to the exoellent music of Dixons'. Orchestra, while - Mrs McLeod/ and Messrs Erasmussen and W. -McKenzie obliged With songs. After supper," Mr Boyle, m his wellknown manner, thanked everyone for turning -out and so -making the function such a marked success. He stated that it was m most distressing circumstances that their guests were leaving them; having lost both home and business, they had now to commence all over again. For 14 years they had been! ideal citizens, sparing- neither their time nor money for~the_welfare of the community, and Nightcaps and the surrounding district would indeed be heavy losers by their departure. On behalf of all the friends of the -Taylor family, he wishad to ; present them with a substantial wallet, with, : which they might buy some small/memento thatswould remind/ them yof their iriany friends m Nightcaps. (Applause). Mr Sinclair endorsed the remarks of" Mr Boyle and expressed .sympathy at tha circumstances, urider which they were, leaving*/ the jiistl^ct.- He hoped- -they would prosper wherever they went arid remarked that the large gathering- was a token 'of the respect and esteem' m which their Fellow-citizens held them. He concluded his address by wishing, the guests of the evening health, . wealth and material prosperity. . ...•'/ Mr- Maurice Taylor, on Behalf of liis parents,, expressed deepest appreciaicm of all that was being said and done for therh that night; wherever they might go and whatever they might do, they_ would always retain pleasant memories of the mainy happy years spent m Nightcaps and always keep a warm spot m their hearts for their many friends m this district. The. assembly then rose and sang : "For They are Jolly Good Fellows". Dancing*, was continued- until ■ midnight, extras being played by Mr E. Wells. At the conclusion Qf the [unction all joined hands. in the singing of 'SA-uld/Lang Syne."
