A 'Gisborne man, farming bh a small scale, who had experienced the value, of herd-testing m another district, had .to get a herd together. He wa_ a returned soldier and went to Poverty Bay because of the climate. He wisely would not . buy stock from a testnig farmer knowing if he did .that. he /.would? get definite culls, .but he" bought froni non-testing fanners, men who did not know the real value of? the animals . they were selling. And the result proved a great advertisement for her ftesting. With the eight culls of nontesting farmers, he obtained the second highest return m the district an average of 370 lb. of fat. "
