The annual meeting' took place m Mrs Stearne's tearoom on Tuesday ■ last, present Messrs G. B. Burns (President), R.S. Harrington (Otautau)/J. A. C. MacKenzie, F. J. Dillon fßiverton ) ; G • Andrews, J . Vickers (Ohai)j C. Garmody, P. Grant (Nightcaps), G. Higgins, J.. ..Finn (Tuatapere)', J. Hemmihgs (Wairid). The President's: report stated :— The annual tournament was held at Riverton on .labour Day, and thanks are due : to the": members of the Riverton Club for placing their courts at the disposal of the Association for this aniiual function, also for the hospitality extended to . the visiting teiims. The ladies' doubles jwere won by Misses Clark and Bailey; Combines, Miss North and Forbes, of the Riverton Club and . the gentlemen 3 s Doubles, Messrs Booth and RS. Harrington of the Otautaji Club. In the Hamilton Cup Competition, Awarua 5 defeated Wallace at Otautau. A match between Central and WesternV was played at Otautau during the season, being won by Western. .. The Officers of , the Association regret the removal of Mr Booth to Timaru., His place will be hard to fill .both as a player, and for the work and time he gave the Association, m the capacity of Secretary. We' extend to him, our very best wishes m his new^sphere." • The financial position is now quite sound, as the competition cups * are paid for m full and ajj the end of tfc© ..current season the "funds should show a; credit balance, a very small debit balance showing at present. In con. elusion we wish to express our appreciation for all assistance rendered by the retiring -Officers, i tie Preps, and convey' to tjie incoming- Officers every wish for 4 successful season. THe. Report arid -Balance Sheet were adopted. A minute of appreciation of the fine services rendedL by Mr H. A.Boothwas recorded, same to be "conveyed by letter to him. . ; Before vacating- tire. ChVir, Mr Burns' thanked members "for their assistance during the year. The Association was now on a sound foot--inguwith, ever-increasing members of Clubs affiliating together with a similar rise m the number of players. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. / President— Mr G. B. Burns (reelected). .. Members, m nominating Mr Burns, conveyed thanks to him .for his good work and untiring efforts on behalf of all the Clubs. Vice-Presidents— -Mesprs £\ G. Higgins and J. Vickers. Secretary — Mr J. A. G. MacKenzie. • It was resolved to accept the Ohai Club into the. A grade and Waimatuku and- Thofnbury Clubs into the B grade competition. To /minimise travelling expenses, the B grade comper tition was divided into two sections: North and South, the winners of each section to play off on a neutral court as decided by the7 President and Secretary- ■..'.. > North Section of Tuatapere^ Ohai, Nightcaps and Wairio Clubs; South Section of Otautau, Thornbury, Riverton and Waimatuku. Owing to a protest by the Riverton Club> the B grade competition of last was never completed. It was resolved the final of this be played off between Nightcaps and Riverton at . Otautau on 14th October. A regrading committee of the President, Secretary and Mr P. Grant was appointed. I The Labour Day Tennis Tournament ibis year, is to take place at (Otautau. Entries are to be m the hands of the Secretary by_ Wednesday, 21st inst:, Clubs to enclose a. list of players according to ladder placing at time of entry. Entty fees, prizes and handicaps tp be on similar arrangement to last year, play, to commence at- 9.30 a.m. In the event; of a player not turning up the partner to draw fr. om those defeated m the first round. > The A grade competition is to commence on Saturday, 17th inst., and 'B grade the following week^, the tra"veiling team to have the option oi playing on the Wednesday m same week if they desire. .
