OTAUTAU SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting- hc!d last night was attended by Messrs G. Sinclair (fh;iirmaii), E. Jcilymaa, A. ft.. Liddcll and A. A. Fisher. The headmaster reported that the average- roll for the period ending- StM May was 220.6" and the average -attend dance 211.5 The average- roll for the term ended Bth May 'was 221.7 and the average attendance 209.09. Since the last meeting the rain, guage and.barometer have come to hand. The pupils will now take a keener interest in compiling their records of. the weather. The two stoves ,have also arrived and been duly installed. They should prove very beneficial in the cold weather to come.' ; He. had to thank the Committee for,^haying the duplicator re-conditioned.^Jt is a necessity in a school of this size.— Approved. *.? The Secretary, .Southland Education Board, wrote indicating the matter of the consolidation of • schools m this district had not' re- ( ■ceived the approval of residents in certain areas. The architect had been instructed to submit a report in regard to top-dressing the asphalt.— The chairman indicated no subsidy was payable on top-dressing material. This had been order at approximate cost of The sama "writer wrote that coke heaters were being forwarded for installation, in T: the' two rooms on !^ the South.— Letter of thanks to be Vforwarded. ; . ■ The Secreary, Western' District Presbyterian Bible Glass Union made application for the Basketball Court on June 3rd.— Granted. The Chairman indicated the tanks and spouting 'at the school had all been cleaned during the holidays. R, Hallum, Drummond School Committee, wrote in regard to their share pf cost towards the D,ental Clinic - Secretary to reply. Wi Richardson, Aparima School Committee, forwarded .£2 towards maintenance of Dental Clinic—Re- • ceived with thanks. " D. A : McGibbon, Eastern Bush School, forwarded £3 15 towards ! maintenance of Dental Clinic.—Received with thanks,"' " [ J.
