After -feihg m England or New Zea : land for a few years, they lay claim to be either Englishmen or New Zealanders. I have been up country foT five -weeks and thereby imissed a big Social Evening and a Morning Tea at David Jones, given m honour of Mr and Mrs Schmidt, who are visiting here and are being entertained by the N.Z. Club.. From last Monday, the letter rate is twopence and all the papers are half -penny dearer. We are told to cheer upi regarding the extra taxes, because we are thereby paying for the Premier and Ministers to have a jolly jaunt to Europe. THE WANDERER.
