■ The adjourned monthly meeting was 1 held on Thursday, Uth mst. Present 1 were Messrs W. Excell ( Chairman), A. Y. Cook, Jas Hamilton, A. R. Malcolm, E. Mason, T. Thomson; Leave of absence was granted Mr/E. CosgriS. In accordance witii notice! of motion, the following iates for the current year were struck : ueiierai -Rate, 13,4 d. m the £; H and CjA, Rate, id. <m theo £ ; banitary Rates same as formerly, with 5 per cent, discount if paid before 30th September ; peptic Tanks, 10/- per annum. • D. Sinclair's applications at previous meeting- for cancellation ot Wednesday evenings for picture showing, and asking for a remission for rent tor evenings on which pictures, had not been screened were considered m Committee. — -The former was declined and the latter not answered. Mr Sinclair again approached the Board asking for an opportunity to confer with the Board or the Finance Committee respecting the lease ot the Hall. Moved by the v,uairmari, seconded by Commissioner Malcolm that the 'request be held over until after the election. ■ Building permits were granted to Jas. Hamilton and M. S. Flynn. , J. Duncan was granted pwi mission , to remove a garage. . ', A. Hind, piano tuner, advised that he would attend to tuning; or repairing the hall piano on 26th mst. The Secretary, "Convent School, ap« plied for alteration m Sanitary bervice. — Referred to Contractor. The Clerk, Wallace County .Council, wrote complaining that a resilient ot Ohai had obtained, his heavy traffic license m Nightcaps instead oi Utautau. —Received. As all fees are sent to Invercargill for apportionment, Nightcaps does not benefit by collecting heavy license fees. H. Akhurst, Riverton, replied to a query respecting the heating:^ system installed m More's Hall, stating that the system was satisfactory wor heating- the -gallery, but not for the mam floor. ' Messrs Longuet and Robertson forwarded for filing purposes all papers and dqcuiments m connection . with Coronation Hall Redemption Loan of .£920 fon a term of 26 years at 5£ per-, cent, payable to the two local "Bond' holders. An annual percentage is also payable to the Public Trust for Sinking Fund purposes. \ The Public Treasury for.vardejTSubsidy! on Rates, amountiug to £49 11/4. The Minister of Finance requested a list of halls m the Town m view ol proposed increase m Amusement Tax. — Clerk to reply. Main Highways Board su omitted their bulletin for standardised specification of Works. — Received. . "".'-', The Cancer Research Society appealed for a donation to funds. Also requested the Board to convene a pub-. lie meeting to provide a committee to further the interest of the warfare agrainst the Scourge of Cancer.— Held over. Clerk appointed receiving agent fqr local donations. - ' .. . The Surfaceman's Monthly Report . was received. . The Doctor's Residence Committee banded over all books, deeds, etc, belonging to the Committee.
