By L. M. W. . Rev. J. B. Bickersfcaff left for Wellington on Wednesday to be present at the meeting of the General Assembly. Mr G. Allison left ou holiday on Saturday, and intends joining the benedjcts during liis absence. Mr J. O. Clapp junr. spent , the veek-end visiting friends m Invercargiii; i Mr and Mrs W. Excell are at present m Auckland. Mr Excell being a Southland representative to a Coal Mine Owners Conference. Mr 8.. J. Smith was m the township last week visiting friends. ' Misa G. Cleverley Is the guest of Mr and Mrs S. J. Collie, Wairio, for a few days. Misses W. and M. Arthur spent the week-end at, Nightcaps. Miss M. Paulin, Invercargill, has been spending a few days with her! parents, Mr and Mrs R. Paulin, Birch wood. ' Rev. R. (J. Boyd, who has beenlaid aside, took the services at Opio, Wairio and Nightcaps on Sunday for the first time for some ; wceks. Mr Boyd feels much better', and has greatly benefited by his holiday. He visits Wyudhara on Friday to give a lecture to the members of the St Andrew's Scottish Society m that town. Miss D. Ford, Qbai, has been visiting friends m Otautau. Mr P. Sinclair has been spending a fortnight's holiday m the North Island on account of his health. Miss Ivy Paulin, who has been m Riverton * Hospital undergoing an operation, is progressing favourably and will s,oon be home.' Mrs R. H. Walker and her two youngese children with Mrs J,. N. Brown are spending a holiday at Queenstown. >

Mrs J. T. Ryan is spending a few days in'.'lnvercargill with friends. Mr Jno. Kearns is tit present visiting his father, Mr J. Kearns, Goorgo street. Mrs Keith is at piesent spending a holiday m Christchurch visiting her sons. MrJ. McLauchlan was the guest of Mr and Mrs W. G. Coulter for the weekend. MS W. Kennedy was hostess for a "bridge" afternoon held m Cole's Tea Rooms yesterday. The winners of tho rubbers were Mrs Porteous and Mrs Reekie. They .both received dainty prizes. Those present were : Mcsdamys Keanedy, Dawson, C. llyan, Reekie, Booth, Stevens, Porteous and Sinclair. ,
