Mr W, Porteous lyft on Thursday £o'" 'Christchurch ov a week's holiday Miss JLumsden is- spending a fuw wcuk's holiday with friends m Inveicargill. Messrs J. G. Miikr, A, 0. Mills aud J. H. Smith were visitors to Queenstown for the week end. Mr W. Kennedy is at present m Christchurch on holiday. . Mr B. C. Galloway, Invt'.reargill, was the guest of 'Rev. nnd Mrs J. B. Bickorstaff last' week. Miss Wilson, Winton, was the guest of Mr and Mrs A. A. Liddell during last week. Miss Currie, West Plains, w,as home for the week-end. , Mr J. Grant left for Christohurch yeßteiday with Mr W. Kennedy's horse and sheep exhibits for the Show. Mr L. Brown is. away North ou holiday. Mr L. Townsend was the guest of Mr and Mrs H. A. Booth during the week-end. . Mr and Mrs Tbos. Taylor and family, Invercargill spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs W. Stuellie, " Stretton." Mr and Mrs M. Gonley are at present enjoying a holiday m Dunedin. A pleasant afternoon was spent last Saturday at Mrs Ryan's residence, when a presentation was made to Miss Fisher prior to her marriage. In presenting Miss Fisher with a silver teapot on behalf of all those present, Mis Ryan wished her eivery happiuess and success m her new sphere of life. Miss Fisher replied, thanking them all for their kindness. Competitions were enjoyed, Miss A. Thomson winning the '• Public Notice '" one and being presented with a cup and saucer. Miss Fisher wen the '• Advertisement " competition, winning an ash tray. Items were contributed by Mrs and Miss Burns, pianoforte duet ; Miss Burns, several pianoforte solos; and Miss Fisher, a song. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed. Mrs Porteous, m a few words, thanked Mrs Ryan for her hospitality for the | afternoon. Those present were : Mesdames Ryan, Ohisbolm, Chandler, Bird, Buchanan, Booth, J. T. R,yan, C Ryan, Porteous, Saxelby, Reekie, Baker, Hall, Fisher, Twemlow, Dun can, Burns and Roberts, Misses Ryan, Fisher, Finnegan, Thomson, Bums and Harrington.
