The following are the ?'egulations : ( 1 ) The scholarship shal 1 be known as "The , luvercargill Savings Bank Scholarship." (_) The scholarship shall be open to male candidates who, during the two years immediately preceding the award shall have been m regular attendance at the Southland Boys' High School or Gore High School. (3) Application for the scholarship shall be made m writing £o the. Registrar of the University of Otago, and must be forwarded to reach him not later .than Februaay 15 m any ! year. t (4) The scholarship shall, on .the recommendation of the Council, be awarded by the Trustees ou the result of the entrance scholarship examination of the University of New Zealand held m the month of December immediately preceding the award of the scholarship. It shall be awarded to an applicant who* is placed on the credit list iv such examination, f nid if there is more than one applicant the award shall be made to the applicant wlio is placed highest on such credit list. (5) The scholarship shall be tenable for three yeais at the University of Otago. * * (6) • The value of the scholarship shall be £35 per aunum. (7) One scholarship shall be offered annually, but the Trustees may, on tbe recommendation of the Council, award two scholarships at any one time. (8) During the first two years of tenure the scholarship may not be [held m conjunction with any other scholarship or bursary except that it i may be held m conjunction with the University Bursary, but during the third year, of tenure -the scholarship j may, on the recommendation of the Councilj be held m conjunction with any other* scholarship, the terms of which do not interfere with the duties incidental to the holding ol this scholarship. (9) The successful candidate may attend classes m the selected faculty as are approved for him by the Professorial Board. (10) The scholarship moneys shall be payable m four equal instalments on the last day of March, May, July, and October m each year, but no payment shall be made unless satisfactory evidence is given that the scholar is carrying on his course of studies to the satisfaction of the piofessors or lecturers concerned. (11) In the event of the attendance or progress of a scholar being unsatisfactory the Council may, on the recommendation of the Professorial Board, withdraw the scholarship.
