Stock Notes.
Tho lato week, wo regret to say, shows no improvement m stock matters, owing to tho predominating fear tluvG there will bo a shortage of winter teed, therefore those who have q, surplus stock on hand fyfld no reservp forces, are inclined to rush the market, and woqld-he buyers, on the other hand, are standing off, hoping for a fall. However, luckily for the graziers of Southr land, they haven't to depend solely on tho local demand, but can depend upon the coming to their rescue to . certain extent at ieast, for judging from tho latest stock reports from Canterbury, that, owing to a. favourable r.aiufali, their market has quite recovered its buoyancy, and there iB a real enquiry for young store stuck, particularly brpeding ewes, from which we can gather that, as m the past, Southland Tyjll reoeive an jndi**ect benefit, In the meanwhile, store stook is very hard to quit down South at late quotations, and wo shall look with interest tc the results of j Winton Sale on the 6th inst., as it will practically determine future store values.
