Though somewhat later than usual this season the^red mistletoe is now m flower, and its beautiful scarlet petals are m evidence from the base of the Lbngwood to far be3 r ond the Waiau, reports the Orepuki Advocate;, It is not generally known, says an exchange, that the Burnham Industrial School has been abandoned by the authorities. About 60 boys annually passed m and out of this pchool, and many old boys have distinguished themselves during the war. Curtailment* of expenditure is said to be the authorities' reason for discontinuing work at the Burnham School. In and around Pahncrston North growers are disappointed with their fruit and tomato crops. In consequence of the • prolonged period of unreasonable weather experienced, these crops or m a very back- ' ward condition. The apple trees, for instance, bear promise of but little fruit, while from all appearances tomatoes are anything from four to six weeks behiud the schedule of other years.
