MR & MRS WM, TAYLOR AND

FAMILY.

Residents of Aparinia assembled at the School House on Saturday even ing, 7th insfc., to bid farewell to the above family, who are leaving the district, after 10 years residence, to live near Invercargill. Mr Ed. Gleufc, oc« cupied the chair and with a few well chosen remarks opened the function sharp at 8p m. The following artists provided items which went to furnish a first class soc'a 1 : Bongs, Miss Gor don and Messrs Patterson, H. Dyer, and duet,'Missts Ruth Grey and Gordon ; Reoitationa, Misses Ada Cowan, Moriarty, V. James and Chas. Clent ; Pianoforte solo?, Miss K. Forde and Master J. Clent. borne fine Gram-* aphone selections were also rendered during the evening. At an interval Mr Cl< nt arose, and made a speech, eulogising the good qualities of the Guests, who, he said, will all be sadly missed from among the Aparima residents. Mr Taylor's qualifications were many, and he cou'.d be called upon to do any job and do it well, while Mrs Taylor was a genial, good hearted lady who was always ready to help those m trouble, especially those who needed nursing when sick, The speaker then had much pleasure m presenting Mr and Mrs Taylor with a handsome Oak Suite of 7 pieces. Other speakers who endorsed the Chairman's remarks were Messrs Jno. Grey, Jno. Macdonald, W. T. James and Rev. S. Bailey. Mr Taylor then replied, thanking everybody for the way m whicb they bad treated his wife, his family and himself. Votes of thanks were then given for the performers.the helpers and the Chairman. A tip top supper was then handed round, after which the evening was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
