Otautau River Board.
The monthly meeting of the Board held on Tuesday last was attended by Messrs W. Walker, U. Scatter R. Ford, K. Harrington and John Macdouald. Leave of absence was granted to Mr J. Lindsay. Mr Walker was appointed Chairman. The Subcommittee of No 1 Subdivision reported that work on FarreJly's bank was now completed, and the banks sown m grass. The District Railway Engineer wrote that no eartli would bo removed from the low parts of gavel pit at corner of Alorrivalo Road and Lieman Street without the 1 Board first being consulted. — Letter received. The Clerk submitted provisional statement of accounts at 31st March showing Bank overdraft of £11 19s yd.— Received. The National Efficiency Board wrote suggesting economy m carrying out any works, or postponing works that were not absolutely essential till after the war. — The j Clerk was directed to reply that the Board was only carrying out repair or maintenance work, was employing men outside military ago and was acting m accordance with the recommendations of the Efficiency Board. — It was resolved to recommend the following names as a local committee for the Efficiency Board : Messrs John Lindsay (Strathmom), John Findlay {Orawia), John Horrell (Tewaewae), and James King (Blaekmount). COUM I'.ES' KM OA N K M ENT. It was resolved to empower No 1 .Subcommittee to complete arrangements with the Wallace County Council for carrying out this work, the Clerk to hand over to the County Council any subscriptions paid by settlers on agreement being arrived at between the Committee and the Council. Accounts amotmlirg to £29 14s were passed for payment. Messrs Macdonald, Lindsay, and Walker were authorised to have any repairs done, rcuderd necessary as a result of the fresh m thoiAparima on Ist April. Mr E. Harrington was appointed to sign cheques during Mr Lindsay's absence.
