Splendid growing summer wbather still .continues, and all kinds of epops aro looking splendid. iiarvest promises •to be fairly 'earl y, and i(i is to be bqped that we ge* a continuation of the fine weather until itw yver. . ' ■
' The Tug-of-War Tournament, which takes place m McDougall's Hall on Saturday evening next, m aid of the War Funds, promises to be a great success. Teams from Otautau, Scott's Gap, Aparima, Heddon Bush, South Hillend, Wrey's Bush, j Nightcaps, Opio and Birchwood are expected to compete. Mr Heathcote, hon. secretarj', and his energetic committee have the arrangements well m hand, and a bumper house is expected. The Catholic Federation Picnic, which takes place at Riverton on Wednesday, promises to be largely patronised from here. Suitable train arrangements have been made, and the fares are : Children lid and adults 2s from here by special oxoursion train which leaves at 8.10 a.m.
