Arbour Day.

OfAUTAU SCHOOL COMMITTEE

TO CELEBRATE.

At a meeting of the Otautau School Committee, held oh Friday evening, Mr J. J. Boyd presiding, it was decided to suitably celebrate Arbour Day on Wednesday, 16th inst. (tomorrow), by planting a number of ornamental trees m the school grounds. One hundred and thirty three troes were ordered from an Invercargill nursery ior the planting, which will be carried out by the children, under the direction of the headmaster and the school committee.

It waa decided to extend invitations to the chairman of the Education Board (Mr J; Fisher), Town Board members, parents and others to he present at the ceremony, which is to commence at 2 p.m. The committee wiU provide tea, milk and sugar, and paients are asked to bring baskets, with a view to making the occasion one of some eclat.

In tbe event of there being a wel day on Wednesday, the function wil foe earned out on Thursday.
