A DOG'S AFFECTION
.A mercantile > firm at , Calico Rock, Arkansas, was dissolved recently, and one of the members moved to California. He left behind an old sheepdog, named Bruce, who is fifteen years old, and has known no other master. The old dog wandered disconsolately about town, always looking for his master. Everyone wanted to be kind to the old fellow, and any home m town would have been open to him. But old Bruce was broken-hearted. He refused to make, new friends. Touched by the dog's misery, someone proposed that a collection be taken to send Bruce to California after his master. The suggestion met with enthusiastic approval. The hat was passed around, and it required but a few. minutes to secure enough money. One of the old dog's friends made a crate, furnished it with enough food to last him a week, and Bruce was started on his 2,000 mile journey to rejoin his master.
