WREY'S BUSH PLOUGHING MATCH.

There was a large attendance at the annual ploughing match held m a paddock kindly placed at the disposal of the Associiation by Ed. Clent, last Friday, and the match was one of the most successful m the history of the Association. Liberal prizes were given, the Society being now m a very sound position, and these induced fourteen ploughmen to come out, all of who did very meritorious work, and fully earned the enconiums heaped upon them by those competent to express a critical opinion. The placing m Class A was similar to that of Drummond on Wednesday, Arthur Lindsay securing first, and J. Turnbull second. Class B fell to a young and hitherto unsuccessful ploughman m J. Gately, while J. Chamberlain secured the premier place m the class set aside for plain ploughing. Practically the same teams were in-, evidence here as at Drummond, and the Judges made a similar award m the best team of mares, choosing John Lindsay's team. The award for the best team of geldings differed from that at Drummond, the honours being reversed, Chas. Calder's team taking the first place, and A. Hamilton's team second. The other specials were well The usual attractions of a Ploughing Match Day were m evidence, a meet of the Birchwood Hunt, and Hunters' Jumping Competition, Sheaf Tossing, and a football match taking place during the afternoon. Special praise is due to the officials for the manner m which they handled their duties. Mr Jas, O'Kane ran a booth on the ground, and the c . nuuittee supplied luncheon for the Judges, Stewards, Ploughman, etc. The Judges during the day were : — Ploughing : Messrs Thos. Stroud, D.
