The Otautau Bowling Club journeyed to Winton per motor car on Friday and engaged m a three-rink match on the Winton green. After a very enjoyable game they were defeated by the narrow .margin of 6 points. The football season was opened by the local club on Friday, a scratch game being played. The event of the week m football circles has, however, been the withdrawal of the Turi team from the competition, the club having disbanded. A. new club ' has been formed at Tuatapere, the Waiau Rovers, who are seeking affiliation with the W-D.S.U.

The Wallace Hospital Saturday Collection is to be taken up m Otautau District on Saturday next and collectors are being arranged for to-night. In Biverton the collection was made last Saturday but the local committee considered this an inappropriate date for Otautau as shopkeepers observed it as a close holiday. A liberal responce on the part of the public will assist this, chief of all our deserving institutions.
