The Australasian Championship Meeting.

The~first day's event a'at " the Australasian Championships came to hand to»night, but few particulars were forwarded.

As expected, G. P- Keddell, Otautan, won the 120 Yards Hurdles m the Bplendid time of 15 2-5 sees, just 1-5 of a second outside the world's record, and 1-10 of a second, or about 2ft slowei than he recorded m the N.Z Championships last year, his t'me then being 15 3-10 sees, an Australasian record. Fraser (N.S. Wales) was second, and Russell (Victoria) third. The IPO Yards was won by R- Opie (New Zealand), m the magnificient time of 9 4-5 sees, which equals the Australasian record.

The High Jump was wOn by _fyuseell, a, Victorian. No height was given but Russell holds the Australasian record of 6ft _};-in. The Three Mile Walk resulted m Kerr (New Zealand) upholding his title.

Hill, the brilliant distance runner from Auckland, won both the Mile and Three Mile running events, The times were not given, but Hill was expected to smash the present records, although he has Only just reached his majority. Pugh (Wellington) was second m the mile, only two starting. The 440 Yards Flat was also won by Opie (N-Z), with Harding (N-Z) second, and Patterson (N.S. Wales) third. The time wa9 slow, 53 sees. Putting the 161 b Shot.— D. McGrath /(Queensland). No second was wired, jbjit it was expected that Sid Reid, Qf would be second. The Two Mjle Walk h'cp resulted— Tracey, Oashnjan, Kerr. " The result so far gives New Zealand 6 wins, Queensland 1 win, and Victoria 1 win. New Zealand are the present holders of the shield, and are almost certain to retain it.
