It is not generally known (say 6 ' New Zealand Town and Country Liie') that any person purchasing a railway ticket, and not using the return ticket, can obtain a refund of the amount paid, oh application to the station-master from whom the ticket was purchased. Printed forms for this purpose are obtainable from any station-master, and the -refund- is made from the head office. It will be seen, therefore, that 'there is no occasion for persons to sell their return tickets, and the action of the department m prosecut- 1 ing people who do so is thus explainable.
