Euchre Social.

The firsts social promoted by the Otautau Lawn: Tennis Club was held on Wednesday evening when, despite the wet night, there was a splendid attendance. Progressive euchre was kept going till 10 p.m when supper was handed round. Prizes were awarded to the first, and booby for both ladies and gents, and were presented by Dr. Stewart after supper. Dancing was indulged m for a couple of hou-n, the music beiag sup. plied by Misses Campbell and Gardi. ner and Messrs King and O'Neill. Mr R. Thompson, President, intimated that the olub intended holding 3 or 4 more similar sooials, and that it, was the intention of the committee to award a handsome prize to the person gaining most _?ames throughout the whole season.

The club has gone to considerable expense and trouble to hold these socials, and we hope the public wilt show their appreciation of these efforts to provide such enjoyable amusement.
